Answering buyers
Where buyer enquiries arrive and how to reply, plus showing your phone number.
Buyers contact you through Cars61. Your email address is never shown to them, and replies travel through Cars61 messages.
Where enquiries arrive
- Messages — the speech-bubble icon at the top of every page. Each buyer and car is its own conversation. Press Enter to send, Shift+Enter for a new line.
- Enquiries tab in My Cars61 — every enquiry about your cars, with the buyer’s details, the car and the message. Open chat takes you to the conversation.
We email you about a new message unless you were already active in that conversation in the last couple of minutes. Guest buyers (without an account) receive your replies by email.
Keeping track
Filter conversations by All, Awaiting reply, Open, Replied and Closed. Close a conversation when you are done; if the buyer writes again it reopens. Messages show when they are delivered and seen.
Showing your phone number
Your phone number is hidden unless you choose to show it. On your Profile, add a contact number and tick Show this number on my listings. Buyers then see a Show number button, and each reveal is counted in your listing’s performance.
