Creating a listing
The two ways to start a listing, and every step of the listing form.
Start a listing with Sell a car on My Cars61 or My listings, or from /sell. You are offered two ways to start.
| Route | Best when |
|---|---|
| Price it and list it | You are not sure what to ask. Enter your rego, VIN or the model and we show a free Cars61 price guide based on similar ads, then you fill in the rest on one page. |
| Create a full listing | You know your price and want to go step by step through every detail. |
The full listing form
The form has six steps. Continue saves as you go, and Save draft saves without moving on, so you can leave and come back from My listings.
Identity
Make, model, badge, year, odometer and condition (New, Used or Demo), plus the registration plate and its state. The VIN is optional. We check the plate or VIN against registry records; if what you typed differs, you are shown both and can use the registry details.
Features & Specs
Transmission, fuel type, drive type, body type, colour, and features and options from a searchable list.
Description
A title, a description (at least 30 characters — 150 or more reads much better), service history and warranty.
Price & Location
Your price and how it is presented (fixed, negotiable, drive away or excluding on-road costs), and the suburb, state and postcode where buyers can see the car.
Photos
Add up to 20 photos and an optional video. See Photos, the photo editor and video.
Review & Submit
Check how the listing will look, see your listing score, choose a package, and select Submit for review — or Continue to payment if the package has a fee.
Your listing score
The score out of 100 shows how complete your ad is: Excellent (90+), Good (75+), Fair (50+) or Needs work. While something required is missing it says Not ready to submit and lists what to fix. More photos, a longer description, the colour, body type, badge, features and service history all raise it.
