Buying a car

Searching and filtering

Filters, the keyword box and sorting.

Browse Cars shows every live car. Results update as you change the filters — there is no Apply button.

The search results page with the filter panel on the left and car cards on the right

Filters

Filter by make and model, price, body type, year and kilometres, fuel, transmission and drive, location, colour, seller (private or dealer), condition and features. Each option shows how many cars match, and options that would find nothing are greyed out.

  • Tick several values in one filter to see any of them — for example two makes. Under the makes you tick, a model list appears, so you can mix models across makes.
  • Features are the exception: a car must have every feature you tick.
  • For location, choose a state, suburb or postcode, then a Search area from Exact to Widest.
  • On a phone, open the filters with Filters; the button shows the number of matching cars.

The keyword box

Type the way you would say it: Toyota under $20k in Sydney or Camry Richmond. Cars61 picks out the price, years, kilometres, state, city, condition and seller type, and shows each as a chip you can remove.

Sorting

Use Sort by for Newest (the default), Oldest, price, year or lowest kilometres.
